So, With a population of 80,835, Flint is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Flint sits at 1,348.6 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Thanks in advance!

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Houston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.
