It's a a smaller city city with about 41,231 people. You can expect to pay around $784 for rent here. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Worth the trade-offs? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Pittsburgh it's challenging.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
