First time home buyer in Florence-Graham

Alright, I'm originally from Sacramento and With a population of 61,723, Florence-Graham is a smaller city. Median household income is $61,216, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $499,100 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in education. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 4 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 11 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor recreation is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
