Florence quality of life -am I missing something?

Random thought, I've been here for 8 years and It's a a small town city with about 4,647 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thanks in advance! The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city...
