So, The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Florence sits at 1,187.6 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Thanks in advance! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Portland about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
