Is Florence a good place to live?

Hi all, Just moved here 18 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Florence sits at 1,187.6 per 100K. Median household income is $56,433, which feels about average for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Any advice would be great. Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Used to live on the West side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 25, moved here 7 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Greenfield and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The cultural scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
