Is it worth buying in Florence?

OK so I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The median home value here is around $189,800, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $56,433, which feels about average for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cheers. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great seafood places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 53, moved here 10 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in East and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The dating scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The school system is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
