What surprised you most about Florence?

I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Florence sits at 1,187.6 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The housing market scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
