OK so Household incomes average around $59,618 in Floresville. You can expect to pay around $1,088 for rent here. Average temperature is around 70--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a small town city with about 7,679 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- The dating scene scene is average
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Westside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Chicago it's underrated.
