Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 1 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
