I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $353,200 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What do you all think? The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I work in construction here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is underrated. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely improving and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Dallas about 10 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 3 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 38, moved here 8 years ago from New York. I've lived in Riverside and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The housing market situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for families. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
