Longtime lurker here, I'm a teacher here and It's a a smaller city city with about 49,536 people. The unemployment rate is 4.9%, which is about average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I work in retail here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is decent. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The housing market is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is tough in most areas.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much stable but now it's excellent.
