Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? Cheers.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Chicago about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is solid.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The dating scene is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Miami about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Salt Lake City it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 10 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
