Life in Florissant as a young professional

So, I grew up here but left for a while. It's a a smaller city city with about 51,915 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Florissant sits at 187.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $136,200 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is solid in most areas.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great craft beer places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Pittsburgh it's improving.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 3 years. Moved from Phoenix for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Can feel isolated. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
