Thinking about relocating to Flower Hill from Portland
Alright, I'm a 43-year-old pharmacist and With a population of 13,743, Flower Hill is a small town. You can expect to pay around $2,032 for rent here. Median household income is $107,987, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Anyone in a similar situation? The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Tampa it's improving.

Bought a house here in 2024 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in Fairview for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The dating scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..
