Most overrated things about Flower Mound
Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 53-year-old project manager and The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Flower Mound sits at 54.4 per 100K. Rent is about $2,221/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons:
- Cold winters
- Sprawl everywhere
- Homelessness issues downtown
Worth the trade-offs? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
