Grocery stores in Flowood -recommendations?

Been meaning to ask this. It's a a small town city with about 10,384 people. With a population of 10,384, Flowood is a small town. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Should I be concerned? TIA!

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The nightlife is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Sunset area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 53, moved here 7 years ago from LA. I've lived in South and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Can feel isolated
3. The safety situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Boston it's tough.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 8 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 49, moved here 7 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Westside and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The job market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**

I'm a nurse and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is improving and there's always something going on.
