OK so We have two kids and The median home value here is around $288,400, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,409 for rent here. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks for reading. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I work in real estate here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is improving. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Highland for 11 years. Moved from Dallas for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is tough - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited high-paying job options. And safety can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Chicago about 8 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
