Longtime lurker here, My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 6,748 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Folcroft sits at 377.1 per 100K. Rent is about $1,363/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $58,899 in Folcroft. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely excellent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Springfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
