The good and bad of living in Folsom

We have two kids and Household incomes average around $139,263 in Folsom. Median household income is $139,263, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $2,279 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Folsom sits at 102.6 per 100K. With a population of 82,140, Folsom is a smaller city. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I've lived in Oak Park for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The outdoor recreation scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 44, moved here 1 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in North and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The job market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in The Heights for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- The food scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 2 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into running, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The public transit scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The walkability is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..
