Cheapest neighborhoods in Forest City?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Crime rate is something to consider -Forest City sits at 364.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $364,900, which seems about average. Household incomes average around $84,337 in Forest City. You can expect to pay around $1,706 for rent here. Poverty rate is 5.9%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Lots of new development
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Sprawl everywhere
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Should I be concerned? TIA! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in finance. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Hope this helps!.
