Hey folks, Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Forest City sits at 477.8 per 100K. With a population of 7,368, Forest City is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 7,368 people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I overthinking this? Thanks! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 4 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.
