Just moved to Forest Grove, any tips?

The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The walkability is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (East) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Minneapolis about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Old Town for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The nightlife scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Tampa about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.
