Rent in Forest Grove getting crazy

So, I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 8.7%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $81,998 in Forest Grove. With a population of 26,406, Forest Grove is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $464,300 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,406 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Lots of new development
- Strong sense of community
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
Should I be concerned? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Sunset) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
- The job market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.
