Studio apartments in Forest Grove -options?

Random thought, I'm a college student here and The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $464,300, which is pretty steep. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,406 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Forest Grove sits at 207.5 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Not very walkable
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
Thoughts? The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is average. Tons of great BBQ places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 3 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
