Is Forest Hills worth it salary-wise?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm originally from San Francisco and You can expect to pay around $1,950 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Forest Hills sits at 26.5 per 100K. With a population of 28,494, Forest Hills is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,494 people. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Chicago about 6 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 6 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely average and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Old Town for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The community vibe scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2018 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Highland) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is average

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
