Hey, The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 14 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is challenging.

I've lived in West for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
- The dating scene scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- The community vibe scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
