Moving to Forest Oaks -what should I know?

Hello, I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $1,732 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 4,095 people. Poverty rate is 4.7%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Thanks for reading. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in tech. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 3 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
