Working remotely from Forest Park

Household incomes average around $42,286 in Forest Park. Crime rate is something to consider -Forest Park sits at 720.2 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,101 for rent here. Homes are going for about $119,000 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this? The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 53, moved here 7 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Sunset and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The dating scene situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for remote workers. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
