Unpopular opinion about Forestville

The median home value here is around $324,700, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,694/month for a decent place. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Let me know your thoughts. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Midtown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The safety scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Raleigh it's better than expected.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I love the pace of life here.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Mediterranean places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 11 years. Moved from Tampa for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is tough - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Far from beaches/mountains. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..
