Unpopular opinion about Forestville

Hey everyone, I grew up here but left for a while. Homes are going for about $324,700 on average. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 10,839, Forestville is a small town. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? Appreciate any input. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely solid and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (East) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 11 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is solid in most areas.

Came here for work and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The safety is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 57, moved here 4 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Springfield and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cost of living situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for couples. solid vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
