Cost of living reality check -Forney

Longtime lurker here, The median home value here is around $323,500, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,665/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 7.3%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $103,360 in Forney. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? Thanks for reading. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I work in government here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is pretty good. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
