Rent vs buy in Forney -what makes sense?

Hello, Median household income is $103,360, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Dallas about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in construction. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
