I'm originally from New York and Median household income is $33,522, which feels on the lower side for the area. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

I work in consulting here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is challenging. No regrets on my end..

Moved here from Houston about 4 years ago. I have mixed feelings honestly. Still getting used to safety but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Fairview) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Westside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- The housing market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..
