So, Born and raised here. With a population of 12,490, Fort Atkinson is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 12,490 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much wild but now it's surprisingly good.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
