Things that make Fort Bliss unique

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and With a population of 12,009, Fort Bliss is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Fort Bliss sits at 392.6 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cheers. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 11 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Southern.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for weather and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The job market is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from San Francisco about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
