Housing market in Fort Collins — is it worth buying?

Median home value here is around $548,400. Prices are steep but there are pockets of affordability. For those renting, typical rent is $1661.

Is now a good time to buy in Fort Collins? Or better to keep renting?

Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it really depends on your lifestyle.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Totally agree with this. I've been here 5 years and my experience is very similar.

For families, I'd recommend looking at University District. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Coming from Chicago, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are cheaper.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 9/10.
