Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 47°F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,661 for rent here. Household incomes average around $83,598 in Fort Collins. Rent is about $1,661/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Thanks in advance! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I love the pace of life here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Riverside area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Minneapolis about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 36, moved here 3 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in North and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited shopping options
3. The housing market situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $40K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
