Worst things about Fort Collins nobody talks about

Random thought, I'm a remote worker and With a population of 170K, Fort Collins is a mid-size city. Average temperature is around 47°F, so expect cold winters. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. TIA! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Road conditions need improvement. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The dating scene is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.
