So, I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 6.0%, which is pretty low. With a population of 39,818, Fort Lee is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Diego about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The weather is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Bought a house here in 2017 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
