Random thought, I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $1,813 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Fort Lee sits at 376.4 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Worth the trade-offs? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Meadowbrook area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The healthcare is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
