Median household income is $68,629, which feels about average for the area. Is this normal for Fort Leonard Wood?

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in North area are decent. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from New York about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The housing market is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in West for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The community vibe scene is average
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- The cultural scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..
