Hi all, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $95,900, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Fort Madison sits at 664.0 per 100K. Rent is about $824/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. What are your go-to spots? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
