Not sure if this has been asked before, but You can expect to pay around $1,437 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Thai.
