First post here. We're a young couple and Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $457,000, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $127,537, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Fort Mill sits at 103.7 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Worth the trade-offs?

Used to live on the East side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- The pet-friendliness scene is solid
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
