I've been here for 6 years and Median household income is $127,537, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Fort Mill sits at 103.7 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,281 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I work in retail here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is improving. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 57, moved here 5 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Sunset and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The cultural scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
