Homes are going for about $457,000 on average. The median home value here is around $457,000, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,437 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I wrong here? Appreciate any input. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

I work in marketing here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is challenging. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a HR manager, 35, moved here 14 years ago from New York. I've lived in Sunset and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Limited shopping options
3. The school system situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for retirees. average vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 8 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much wild but now it's underrated.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
