What to expect moving to Fort Mitchell?

Anyone else feel this way? Median household income is $80,814, which feels pretty solid for the area. What do you all think?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Midtown. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (East) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 12 years. Moved from San Francisco for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is tough - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Dating scene is rough. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.
