The truth about Fort Myers — honest review
Been a Fort Myers resident for 2 years. Here's my honest take:
Pros:
- Great weather year-round
- Low crime in most areas
- Growing economy
Cons:
- Public transit needs work
- Job market is niche
Overall I'd rate it 9/10. It's not perfect but I really enjoy living here.

If you can afford it, Old Town is the best place to live. Period.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Don't sleep on Downtown. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Respectfully disagree about the job market. In my experience, there are good opportunities if you network.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Cedar Hills. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.
