Top 5 things I love about Fort Myers

Hey, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $351,600, which seems about average. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from LA about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 8 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
